Building Good Character and Values in Your Child!

Brain Snacks, created by former schoolteacher Margo Friedman, is a unique booklet filled with thought-provoking quotes that you tear out one by one and slip into fun places for your child to discover. Thousands of Brain Snacks booklets have been purchased by parents, teachers, aunts, uncles, grandparents ... just about anyone looking for something special to share with their loved one.

Although Brain Snacks is out of print and no longer available, it continues to touch the lives of many families around the country and abroad.

Just why has Brain Snacks been such a success? Comprised of motivational and inspirational messages, the booklet’s convenient format allows parents to choose a thought that seems most appropriate for that day. Sharing the thought helps the child understand what is important to the parent and what ideas they believe in and value.

Our publicity efforts resulted in guest appearances on local network TV, radio interviews and countless newsprint stories around the country. The response to our efforts has been heartwarming. This Chicago Tribune article is a typical example of the favorable reviews we have received.

Chicago Tribune Reviews Brain Snacks

“How does a mother stay in close touch with her 10-year-old daughter when both lead busy lives?”

Margo Friedman’s solution was to feed her daughter more than a sandwich for lunch. Each day she began tucking “character-building and inspirational” notes into Abrah’s lunch box, and at school the fifth grader unwrapped her meal and a message from mom.

Borrowing well-known wisdom on persistence, self-esteem, friendship and a positive attitude, and adding some of her own practical insight, Friedman sought to motivate as well as remind Abrah that her mother was thinking of her, even though the two were apart during the day.

Abrah enjoyed getting the notes so much she suggested collecting them for a book. Now the mother-daughter duo has teamed to create Brain Snacks: Food For the Growing Mind. Named by Abrah, the final product has 90 quotes, selected after getting feedback from parents, teachers and classmates. The coupon-style booklet comes with easy-to-tear off pages and spaces to write personal messages.

“I’ve gotten calls from parents who’ve sent them in college (survival) packages, put them on bathroom mirrors and even on the fridge for daily family inspiration. The positive response to Brain Snacks has been gratifying, as has the opportunity to work with my daughter,” Friedman says.

“I wanted to teach her that if you have a good idea, you don’t just sit on it,” says Friedman, “You make it happen.”
